While typing an email, (in Outlook Express), my mouse stopped working and I
got what seemed like 'interferance' on the screen. There was a strip about
a quarter inch wide vertically on the screen where the pixels were
disturbed. (Just don't know how else to explain this.)

My first inclination was to think my monitor is going out. (It's a 2 year
old 17" KDS - I hope not, because I can't afford to buy a new monitor every
two years.) But then I realized the whole system was totally locked up. I
couldn't even locate my mouse on the screen. I had to turn it off with the
on/off button, because Ctrl/Alt/Delete wouldn't even work.

After rebooting, it seems to be fine. Does this mean my monitor is on its
way out, or could it be a program problem, or something else?
