Chuck,
Sure! If you have another image viewer (like ACDSee, Irfan, etc..) that
you would like to use to view image files, then install it and when it asks
if you would want it to be the default viewer, say yes!
This works for any program that uses a computer resource formats like
images, fonts, video files, etc..
