Computer Pentium 4 3.3  1G ram, Windows XP PRO

Using Word Perfect 12 ( tried 9 and 10 also) when I click on save, it hangs up and I must exit. This happens frequently but not every time. I tried everything that I found on the internet and at Corel. I changed the printer to an Apple, I tried SAVE AS (which was better but still hung but less frequently. I get this error message when it prompts a send request (XP that is),  In the TEMP File, it always shows these two as being culprits: wpwin12.exe.mdmp and appcompat.txt
Any help will be welcome
