I just installed a 6.4 Gb Western Digital on my system and I'm running the
original version (no updates, no special packs) of Win95 ver 4.00.950 on my
three year old Compaq. My computer is also mostly for family use however,
I wanted to put some BIG software on it and needed more room and NEVER
wanted to worry about that issue again.
My system HAD to be partitioned into 3 (three) drives lettered D, E and F
with G being my CD-ROM drive. Each of the new partitions is approx. 1.6 to
2.4 gig drive - you do the math!

Right Click on My Computer icon on the desktop, click Properties and look
at the top of the General tab you will see the Operating System (OS) listed
and the version number. I know there have been at least two released
updates since mine but I have been advised (even on this group) "if it aint
broke, don't fix it". So I haven't.

Cannot help with this though my BIOS ( in DOS setup) does allow for "Power
Management" which makes my system seem like its snoozing sometimes by
powering it down when I haven't been on for a while until I learned (also
on this list) to turn it OFF. Made a lot of difference.

Sounds like my story and I'm not surprised. Has something to do with FAT32
which I am sure will be expanded on here by someone.
