Ever since my NT 4 installation got corrupted, I get an IE window
pointing to the system32 directory at every boot up. I checked the
startup folders, the registry run commands, and searched the registry
for iexplore entries, but could find nothing to account for the startup.

From all the behavior, it seems as if the desktop thinks that an IE
windows was open at shutdown and resurrects it at startup. Anyone know
where it is that NT (or Win95 perhaps) does the remembering of the
desktop state? Or has anyone run into this same problem?

I dread re-installing NT from scratch since it takes so long to
reconfigure everything back. Just re-installing NT as an upgrade does
not fix the problem. So far, I have been able to fix most of the
problems bit by bit, but this one seems persistent. Thanks for any help.
