I have found that a jpeg graphic is usually about 1/10th size of the
original with very little quaility loss. A nice little program for
compression is called 'Jpeg Optimizer' you should be able to get it from
http://www.download.com . It will give you 2 windows. One with the original
graphic and the second will show the compressed version so you can see the
compression in action.
