I am using Win XP Pro, with some updates, but not yet SP2.
In order to update my version of Excel, I recently installed Office SP
version
2002, which included Outlook 2002. I also downloaded and installed Mozilla
Thunderbird. I can read mail with Thunderbird, but can't dial phone numbers
and the address book is a simple list, unlike the structure I had in
Outlook.
Meanwhile, Outlook still has the contacts structure and can dial phone
numbers, but can't read/send e-mail. I get the following three error
messages:

The IMAP serverhas issued an unrecognized greeting.
<<Details
K QPOP (version 2.53-bu2) at acsn01.bu.edu starting.
    Protocol: IMAP
    Server: acs-imap.bu.edu
    Port: 110

Task 'Checking for new mail in subscribed folders on acs-imap.bu.edu.'
reported error (0x800CCC0E) : 'Could not fetch new headers in the folder
(null) for Account acs-imap.bu.edu. Error:Unable to connect to the server..'
Task 'acs-imap.bu.edu: Folder:Inbox Check for new mail.' reported error
(0x800CCC0E) : 'Could not fetch new headers in the folder Inbox for Account
acs-imap.bu.edu. Error:Unable to connect to the server..'

Task 'Checking for new mail in subscribed folders on acs-imap.bu.edu.'
reported error (0x800CCC0E) : 'Could not fetch new headers in the folder
(null) for Account acs-imap.bu.edu. Error:Unable to connect to the server..'

My ISP advises me to uninstall and re-install Office XP, but I would rather

not even try anything so "iffy" and drastic if there's another solution.

Any help would be appreciated.
