It is starting to sound like the only problem you have with PDF files is
when they are sent as e-mail attachments to the office machines. Do ALL the
machines that are affected share the same e-mail server? Are there any XP
machines that use the same server but do not have a problem reading the PDF?
If the e-mail server is the common item, then you would need to examine how
the server processes attachments. Are you using POP3, or IMAP?
