Venkat, Internet explorer is not listed in Add Remove Programs on my
computer, however the option is listed in Add Remove Windows Components. I
tried this but was unable to remove it from there. A reinstall of a further
previous image has fixed everything. I am glad I do frequent backup images.

Hi Alan,

I am not sure if this will solve the problem but if it DOES NOT then I would
suggest the following.

In control panel/add/remove programs see if "microsoft internet explorer
(your version)" is listed and if so click remove.

you will be presented with a window with options (1)add a component
(2)repair (3)restore previous windows configuration.

NOTE:- this is what I get in my WIN 98SE but not sure about WIN XP but
should be something similar.

I would suggest you try the repair option first and see if it works. the "
add component " only lists what updates you do not have/ want like arabic/
korean etc language support. the " restore previous......." does a roll back
to say 5.0 from 6.0 if that is what you have.

if option (2) works, fine and ,if (3) works you can always upgrade to the
latest version later.

FWIW and good luck--- Venkat Viswanathan
