When it comes to saving a data file, there is nothing special about AVI files.
You can save them just like any other file, such as documents.
Zip file compression was one of the earliest ways to do this. PKZip or Winzip
will span disks, (write a file to multiple floppy disks), as will many other such
zip programs.

There are numerous backup utilities that will do this also and programs written
specifically to break a file into floppy size pieces, such as DLSPLIT:

one large file when it is copied to your hard drive again.
