Hi all
I had this problem on Win95; now with a new computer and XP (but the same
ISP, although I don't see how that could be relevant) I have some more info
on it.
I use dial-up (and call charges are not cheap here). SOmetimes, not always,
when i've been connected to the net and I disconnect and later reconnect, I
cannot reach any hosts - Outlook cannot find any mail severs and nothing can
be pinged. The new info I have is that "ipconfig /all" shows there are TWO
dial-up adapters active, like this:

Surely that first one is not supposed to be there? It must be stuck from the
earlier dialup connection and preventing proper communication now.
What would cause this and is there a way I can kill and remove the dead
connection without rebooting? I couldn't find anything directly relevant in
a google search.
