Short answer: Yes, and VERY carefully...
You really should get a good uninstaller program
that sorts the DLL's and then searches for program
dependencies.  It should also back-up anything it does
automatically, and not "trash" the system so you can
use the back-up "when" you need it...
The more aggressive the program in removing things,
the more likely you are going to have trouble.
Another approach is to format the hard drive and start
with a "clean slate..."
A third approach is to keep the system "lean and clean"
by only putting in programs you "really" need, and using
only "really good" programs that you don't have to get rid
of because of problems.
I would say you are doing fairly well in the "lean and clean"
dept, as my system has almost 2300 DLL's.
