Hi Brenda,

You could try this:Disable the Welcome Screen in Windows XP Pro.
http://www.petri.co.il/disable_the_welcome_screen_in_xp_pro.htm

or from Microsoft:How to turn on automatic logon in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315231

This last link describes making changes to the Registry.
No big deal, although many people advise against this.
The only- but all important- thing to remember when working with the
Registry,
is to export the keys about to be changed to a folder as .reg files.
Then do your changes.

Now,if I got you all worried, there is a simple method by just using
TweakUI for XP
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx
Scroll down to TweakUI.Download & Install
Open TweakUI (Click Start, Programs, Powertoys for Windows XP). Expand
the Logon branch, and click Autologon. Turn on the "Log on automatically
at......" option, type your username and password, and click Ok.

Have fun,
Peter

> What is a reason to keep the log-on page when Windows boots? I want to get rid of that part of the boot process. I'm the only person using my computers and if someone else were to use the computer for any period of time, I could add it back. So, how do I get rid of it? I went into the control panel > user accounts >windows logon and cleared that box, but a user name window comes up. I click ok (without a password) and I can get back into the computer. I don't want to have to do that.
