I haven't done much dos commands in a long time, but would it work without all the " ? I don't recall using single or double quotes in dos. Paul Hachmeyer -----Original Message----- From: PCSOFT - Personal Computer software discussion list [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of Jacob Smith Sent: Wednesday, January 29, 2014 12:07 PM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: [PCSOFT] batch file issue I have written the following commands to a batch file: if exist "C:\windows\system32\drivers\file.sys" rename "C:\windows\system32\drivers\file.sys" "file.wassys" else rename "C:\windows\system32\drivers\file.wassys" "file.sys" I run it as administrator, and I've also typed it into the terminal in admin mode. Neither one does anything, no errors or prompts, nothing. I know that the file exists and will for a long time. I've written a few variants trying to change the working directory first, but they didn't work either. what am I missing? I've run the rename command alone and it worked fine. -- Blessings, Jacob Smith Visit our website regularly for FAQs, articles, how-to's, tech tips and much more http://freepctech.com |
