Hello Everyone,

Thanks Yakymakha. That was exactly what I wanted to know. 

For everyone else's benefit, I repeat the conclusions: For those like me who backup their Registry using Regedit, you can restore the registry from a .reg backup by running Regedit from the DOS mode. Its a useful idea to keep Regedit on your Dos boot disk for such eventualities.
