hi...i'm using win xp home edition on a new computer...starting a few days ago,my computer wants to run the check disk (which i believe is the same as win98 scandisk)on my "F" drive every time i start or restart the puter...it seems that the puter "thinks" the check disk is a "scheduled" task at reboot but i can't find any setting that may be causing this ....when the check finishes it always says that "windows has checked the file system and found no problems"...also i cant run a scandisk or error check on the F drive as i get an alert that says "the disk check could not be performed because the disk check utility needs exclusive access to some windows files on the disk. These files can be accessed only by restarting windows.Do you want to schedule this disk check to occur the next time you restart the computer?...if i answer "yes" to this, and i do reboot, the check disk runs "twice"..probably once cuz i just told it to and a second time cuz of the problem i'm having..another big problem is that i can't run a defrag on the F drive as i get an alert saying "disk defragmenter has detected that chkdsk is scheduled to run on the volume:(F:)Please run chkdsk /f....when i go to start\run\chkdsk /f it won't allow this to run....i'm new to win XP and can't seem to find a cause or solution to this problem...any help would be appreciated....thanks,Daryl MacNeil.
