Toomas, the articles you refer to seem to be directed at NetBIOS problems on Win2k setups. As far as I know, my home network cummicates via TCP\IP and it's running on XP Pro machines.

However, as I posted to the list, last night, the situation has suddenly and inexplicably righted itself. Unfortunately I have no idea what caused it to recover.

With help of Browser Concole utility it is easier but Browser console requires
  installed
  .NET framework.

This is fourth time within two weeks to hear that someone has similar
  problems. Plus my
network. Either some undiscovered virus or Windows update.

My home network consists of 3 pc's, all running XPPro. The Internet connection
  is via a broadband router.

Up til recently (date unsure but probably two days back) everything was
normal, with each machine seeing the others, all machines connecting to the
internet, file sharing OK etc etc.

Suddenly, the network has become screwed up. Each machine still connects to
the Internet and each machine can ping the other.

But in Network Places on each machine, there are NO computers visible at all,
not even each computer's own files, so no file sharing is possible.
