Go the the startup group and *verify* that the icons really point at the
programs they seem to the starting. I've regularly seen where an icon in the
startup group says one thing... but under properties it is actually starting
some other program.

Just a thought...  hold shift key while windows totally loads... it will let
you know if it's in the startup group at all....
