Here's one of the free services that is trying to
do something completely new and different.

www.bluelight.com (Kmart) is changing from
completely free to "sort of " free.  They seem to be
taking the most common sense approach to the
free access issue.  They are associated with Yahoo
and will use your yahoo email ID as the user login ID..

I don't believe they have made an official public
announcement yet, but current members received
an emailing last month letting us know about the
upcoming changes.

If I recall this correctly, they will be offering four
levels of access.

Totally free but limited to 20hrs per month.
Metered access (???hrs per month) for around $10-15 per month.
Unlimited access for around $20-25 per month.

And the fourth option is something totally new to the net.

If you make ANY on-line purchase from K-mart, then you get
free unlimited access for the next month.

I think there are also dollar levels that can get you one, two,
or three months of free access. So the more you spend
with them, the more free time you can bank.

The above numbers may not be totally accurate, but this is
the basic jist of their message to us.
