Yep! The IE4 readme file states that you must install IE4 before
uninstalling Win95. this is because IE4 changes some basic settings in
the registry and replaces some basic files. Therefore, you have to put
the original Win95 files and settings back or the uninstall routine
trashes the registry.
Do you have a recent backup? Does your machine have a system.da0
or system.1st that you can use to replace the trashed file with?

Subject: [PCSOFT] Screwed Up Registry?
Date: Sunday, March 08, 1998 7:41AM

I was having a problem accessing my tape drive and was told by Seagate
to
exit to the DOS prompt and type REGEDIT /E A.TXT and came up with UNABLE
TO
OPEN REGISTRY message. I was then told that my registry was messed up.
I
got ms on the phone and went through the same procedure and then got cut
off. I had reinstalled win95 without uninstalling ie4. Could that have
created this problem? Any idea of how to fix it?

A slink-y, a slink-y, for fun he's a wonderful toy!
