For XP and 2K use the Task Manager by right clicking on the task bar, select
the performance tab. Much more info than in the 9X series.

It is much quicker, and uses less resources of its own.

As far as XP-(Pro), neither of these display anything like this.

  There's an easier way. In any Explorer window, just click Help/About
  Windows. There you will see the current resource figure. I don't know if
  this applies to XP.
