Welll.... I usually don't argue with major publications, but in this
particular article PC Week got it backwards.
I originally started with an article in the Windows Digest weekly E-zine,
which pointed me to the BetaNews.com site. From there I went to the MS site
and read the trial transcripts and finally went to the Windows Users Group
Network site (wugnet.com). They all (except the trial transcripts) list
Millenium as the 9x successor and Neptune as the **consumer** NT successor.

I think a large part of the confusion is due to the recent restructure of MS
into separate divisions. I don't think they all have gotten their acts
together and are not working as a single cohesive unit. Therefore, the left
hand don't know what the right had be doin'.

Based on info at all these web sites, MIllenium is the product which was
just released not Neptune.

Unfortunately, I deleted the original E-zine article that started me on this
hunt. But here are _some_ of the other links. All of these articles are
less than 2 weeks old.

Based on my research, I still say there are four versions in the works. The
Windows 2000 names came directly from the MS web site. The Windows Consumer
names came from quotes by Mike Nichols, the PRODUCT MANAGER for the consumer
version of Windows.

1. "WINDOWS 2000 PROFESSIONAL" which will replace NT Workstation.
2. "WINDOWS 2000 SERVER FAMILY" which will replace NT Server.
3. "WINDOWS CONSUMER" which will replace Windows 9x.
4. "WINDOWS CONSUMER NT" which is sooo new (according to Mr. Nichols) that
there is no information available at all.
