Subject: [PCSOFT] Mouse hangs up in Office programs

I have an Office XP upgrade of Office 97. Whenever I open Word, Excel,
Access, etc. My mouse hangs up half way down the screen after a few minutes
of working normally. Any time I open a pull-down menu from the task bar,
the mouse hangs up, i.e., the pointer won't move to the lower half of the
page. If I move the pointer around, I can "guess" at where the text
indicator is and highlight certain tasks and the either click the mouse or
the Enter key and perform the task, but it is very timeconsuming and
nerve-wracking. I downloaded a different mouse driver from the Office
website at the direction of tech support for Microsoft, but it didn't help.
If I reboot, the mouse works fine except when I open an Office program.
Even if I close the Office program, the mouse remains stuck until I reboot.
Can anybody help? My OS is Windows 98SE. I have downloaded all suggested
upgrades to both Windows and Office on a regular basis. I also use Norton
Systemworks and keep my NAV updated. My mouse is Microsoft Intellipoint
Explorer Version 4.10.0851 with driver version 11.40, with PS2 connection.
I tried a different mouse and it hangs up, too. Any suggestions?
