I know this has been covered before, but I am having to work from my laptop, Toshiba Satellite L675 running M$ Windows 7 SP1 so can't access my saved files nor links right now. (My old eMachine is down with a problem with the mouse, and I haven't received the necessary cable for the newer HP.) Browser is the latest update of Firefox.
Since I have replaced the battery in this Toshiba and begun using it again, I am experiencing literally a gang of popups! Mozilla's pop-up blocker doesn't seem to work against them. I can't find the problem in Firefox, nor in settings. I have gotten rid of Sweetpacks (which was inadvertently downloaded with some other software) so that isn't the problem either. Some of the sites that are popping up are

I went through the Firefox tools and changed some settings, but it's still happening. Also went into the registry editor of this laptop, but couldn't find anything that would prompt these ______ things. Cleared cookies and cache: still happening. Once I leave my home page, I get two or three of these popups all at the same time. Only a blank page loads, but it covers up what I'm trying to do. What am I missing here? As always, thanks in advance for your help!
