I use Windows 98 SE and ran into a very frustrating problem this afternoon.
I installed a PFS Resume and Job Search Pro (vintage 1997) program to review
some material on a disk. What the Program did was highjack all my MS Word
documents and replace the Word icon with the RJS Pro icon. I can access
documents on my hard drive through my Word 2000 program, but when I insert a
disk to access a document, I get an error message shutting down the Word
program. "Winword is performing an illegal operation and will shutdown." If
I try to access the document through Windows Explorer, I get a message
saying that the document (all the Word documents) have to be opened by the
PFS program - it is looking for the RPWIN.EXE file to open the document.
This is driving me slightly batty, as I need to get to the documents on the
disk. To make matters worse, every one of the word documents now bears an
RJS Pro icon. Have I done something really horrendous?

I would appreciate any help in getting my Word documents back in readable
and printable form. I promise I will get rid of the PFS Resume and Job
Search Pro. (It didn't seem to cause this problem on my old Windows 3
system.)

Thank you.
