Microsoft has put several "smileys" into the autocorrect system
of Office 95 (and up). BUT in typical MS fashion, they used a
hammer to install a screw - it works (soft of) but that is not
what the tool was designed for. It would have made more sense
to put them in the autoTEXT feature instead of the autoCORRECT
system.
Anyway, to answer Siva's question, there are no "universal"
shortcuts to creating smileys. They only exist in a few
programs (MS Office).
