This has been described on this list before. There are two speeds associated
with a modem - the speed of computer to modem and the speed between modems.
The 115400 is the connection between the computer and modem, and is
appropriate. To have the true connection speed show up in the DUN monitor
status, be sure that the modem initialization string includes a W2 option.

Why does my modem properties show the port speed(115400) instead of the
connect speed? I upgraded from a 33.6 internal to a 56K external and
were I was seeing connect speeds of 24 or 26 I now see only 115400.
