Got myself into a fix and could use help straightening out the situation.

Used EndItAll, uninstalled IE5.01, rebooted, installed IE6, rebooted and
checked for updates. I thought every thing was set, since IE6 runs OK and
ver: 6.0.2600.000 shows up when I checked "Help/About". However, when I
downloaded and tried to install the MS update q306121 a message is received
stating "This update requires IE6.0 to be installed."

What I did find were two Temporary Internet File folders on my desk top;
identical spelling but different locations. The original is in
C:\Windows\Local Setting and the newer folder is in C:\Windows\Desktop. The
original folder has a sun dial icon on it and cannot be accessed, renamed,
moved, uninstalled or deleted. The new folder is plain manila and can be
accessed and renamed as before. It appears that the original TIE folder
still contains the IE5 information and was used to create the new folder,
preventing IE6 information from being the default.

I tried to find the tempor~1, and desktop.ini hidden folder(s), so I could
delete them and hopefully IE6 would recreate the correct folder after a
reboot. Went to DOS,windows, dir/as, but tempor~1 was not there. Decided
not to pursue any further and ask for assistance before I mess something up
more than it is. Step by step instructions are preferred to prevent any
confusion.

Note: renamed new folder to Temporary Internet File New.
Using Gateway400, Pentium II, Win98SE, IE6.0 (almost), AOL 4 for Internet
access.

Thank you in advance for any help provided.
