AVG tells me it isn't up to date, but my efforts to go along with the
Grisoft updating process all come a cropper. Some .dll files can't be found, as I
recall. (This is the Free version and I'm using Win, Svc Pak 2.)
My Question -- Shal I just try to delete it, then start again w/ a new copy?
(I can't find a way to get a rise out of the outfit.) Is therre anything
special to deleting the old copy (as there surely seems to be w/Norton)?
Ed,
I just experienced a different problem with AVG that gave me the message
"In order to complete the update you must restart your computer" but after
repeated restarts I still got the message and tray icon was grayed-out.
After finding a similar problem on the AVG forum, I downloaded a fresh copy
of AVG to my desktop, used the un-install found under Start/All Programs/AVG
and checked the "remove user settings" box then installed the new version
from my desktop. All works well now.
HOWEVER, since your error is a different one than mine, I would wait for
responses from the other list members and search the AVG forum for your
particular problem first.
Good Luck,
Phil Williams
