No, Tom, there were NO RESTORE points to go back to when I looked on the
calendar. I know the ones you can go back to are in BOLD, but there were none
and I even tried putting in the name I had given it, but to no avail --- it was
not there. But that's ok. Thanks for your help anyway. I do appreciate it.

When you go to programs/accessories/system tools/system restore, you are
given three options - restore to an earlier time, create a restore
point, or undue the last restore. To create a restore point you chose
create a restore point, give it a name, and then create the point.
Apparently this is what you did on 11/16.

To restore to the 11/16 restore point, select the option to restore to
an earlier date. The next screen has a calendar with the highlighted
dates having restore point(s). Select 11/16 and all restore point(s) on
that date will be listed. Select the restore point you created and then
select restore. If there is no restore point shown for 11/16 see if
there are any restore points before the "mess". XP creates its own
restore points and there may be one on 11/17 before you ran into the
problem.

If there are no restore points, post again to see if anyone has any
ideas on why your restore point creation is not indicated. One thought
is that somehow system restore was turned off after you created the
restore point in which case all restore points would have been deleted.

I hope this helps.
