Hi Martha,

Try some of the backdoor passwords that might be in place for some BIOS
versions. Following is a list of potential passwords that may or may not
work. There's no harm in trying 'em out. :-) If you can't get in with one of
the backdoor passwords, it may be time to consider opening up your computer.
Here is an article on "Bypassing the BIOS Password Using Hardware
Modification."

According to DigiSign Data Security, if you have an IBM Aptiva, you can
clear the BIOS information by holding down both mouse buttons until the
computer boots. They also mention that Toshiba laptops will bypass the BIOS
password if the left shift key is held down during boot.

Subject: Passwords

When I boot up the PC and want to enter setup, normally I would just be
taken there. However, somewhere along the line, a password was entered
which keeps me from getting into setup. I have no idea how the password got
there or what the password is. How can I take an unknown password/setting
off my own PC?
