I've been using VB since version 3 (1994-95?) and I've developed
MANY applications, ranging from a full "SOHO" (Small Office Home
Office) application that prints faxes, invoices, pick up orders
and cheques for a consulting company, to a Caller ID/Paging
software that would "collect" the caller's phone number and send
it to a numeric pager (or even a real message to an alphanumeric
pager!) to notice you of missed calls while away from the
house/office... not to mention the ability to play WAV files to
announce a caller or a caller's number.
Also, I've developed a small Invoicing software for my own
company, and this software can generate an HTML version of my
price list, an HTML FORM to put on my website for visitors who
want to order stuff, etc. etc. Need any more ideas? ;-)
The only "weakness" of VB might be games or anything that
requires animation (bitmaps, etc.). VB is WAY slower than C or
C++, so I mostly recommend it for people who want to build
Windows-type applications.
Hope this helps!
