Since you are saying she "uses OE" and you want to extract .eml (email) files from dbx files, I assumed the new install would also be using OE dbx files. After all that long information. I just thought, if she is switching to a different email client - OR she just wants to keep the emails for reference, she can use DBXtract & just LEAVE the email in a WE folder (she would need OE available to read them since the ".eml" file calls up an OE window for displaying itself.)

Or... if the old installation is still intact and she wants to purchase ExpressAssist and back everything up, it could save a lot of work and grief and she would not need OE to read them, just Windows and ExpressAssist. And if she has the same setup of Windows and OE and the same ISP, ExpressAssist could pretty much completely set ALL this back up for her with just a couple of clicks. If you want to do this, ask. and I'll give you the exact few steps.

If none of these will be available, emails can be saved as text from OE, but only one at a time and that is tedious.

Again, good luck,
AnnaSummers

Subject: [PCSOFT] open a file??

I have to build a computer for a friend and she uses Outlook Express for her e-mail. I'm looking for the inbox files with Microsoft Explorer and I found folders, but they are dbx files!
Has anyone found how to open them to retreive their mail?? Like most people she has kept a lot of mail !! Thank you for the help, Al Smith
