Greetings all.
I'm a new member and I had a question that's bee plaguing me for quite some time. Recently I bought a new PC. Duron 950, with an Nvidia2 MX 64 MB, 256 MB of ram, a 40 Gig Maxtor HD, Soundblaster PCI 128, and a VIA K-II motherboard. These specs are to the best of my knowledge. Recently I clean installed Windows 98 SE. Downloaded the latest drivers, installed all my softeware for my old PC (I.E. Winamp, Morpheus, Audiogalaxy, Nero, games, etc.), and downloaded the Windows 98 SE updates. I installed versions 7.1, and then 6.4, of Media Player but to no avail. Everytime I play something, about half way through, or it could be anytime for that matter, I get a Blue screen reporting a fatal error. Most of the time it's an 0D xxxx:xxxxxxxx, sometimes an 0E reporting it in VxD VMM or some other such VxD error. I'm not sure what this mean, but nothing I have tried works to solve this problem, including downloading the VxD fix from Free PC support. I've also tries System Secure, Scandisk, Dr. Watson, System File checker, anything. I'm under the impression that there must be some way I can play media files with ease. Is this common? The other computer in the house is a Dell and the Media Player 7.1 on that computer has never exhibited symptoms like these. Any help would be far far more than appreciated. If any other details are neccessary to solve this, please let me know.
Thanks for anything,
Frank Lepore.
