Subject: [PCSOFT] IE 5.1 pop-up window

Hi could anyone help me with this:

I recently visited a free lotto website and apparently they did something to
my browser or internet settings. Now I'm getting this pop up window come up
every time I'm on the internet. It keeps popping up in like every 5 minutes
or so and displays iwin.com on the page title field and has no address bar
and then invites me to play a lotto by displaying a button after
advertisement. i can't figure out how to stop this from happening. I tried
to clear the cookies and temp internet files folder but it didn't work.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
thanks in advance,

ahror

There are several things you can try - these may or may not help, but they won't hurt anything.

Click 'Start / Run' and type "msconfig".
On the 'Startup' tab, see if there's anything referring to iwin.com - if so, uncheck it.
On the "Win.ini" tab, click the + beside the [windows] folder, and look at " load= and run= ".
These should have nothing after the = sign (spyware and viruses can alter these settings).
If they point to anything that looks suspicious, you can disable them here, or open your win.ini
file, and edit the two lines directly.

Download a spyware program such as OptOut or, (my favourite), Ad-Aware.

OptOut can be found at http://grc.com/optout.htm
Ad-Aware can be found at http://www.lavasoft.de/aaw/index.html

I have other ideas if these don't help - good luck.
