I doubt that your loss has anything to do with Windows 2000.
What probably happened was a virus or accidental deletion of Documents and
Settings folder that holds all user data including your favorites, outlook
messages, documents, and other personal settings. If you haven't installed
new software or defragmented your drive after the loss you should be able to
recover the lost files using one of many available undelete tools.
Outlook file that stores email messages is outlook.pst and is stored by
default to C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook
Favorites are stored in C:\Documents and Settings\username\Favorites
Username is the name you use to log onto the Win2K
Good luck and back up your important information at least monthly,
especially with all the email viruses going around.
