Dried up color - never use.   

You might try to inject some liquid (I don't know what) into the dried up cartridge, or buy a "refilled" 2nd hand color cartridge.

One other thing about HP.  They will send you (from their website) a postage pre-paid bag to recycle their cartridges and also give you a little money (buck or two) for the old cartridge.
