I could be wrong, but Windows has built in viewers it uses
for its own purposes. A similar one displays the "bmp/sys" files,
that are the shut down screens for Win95, in real mode DOS.

Yes.  It also "may" have changed others. That is why I
"started out" suggesting an enhanced plug-in that would
have fixed all the problems that the removal of QuickTime
"did" to your system. There may be nothing wrong with
QuickTime...  Getting rid of it was the problem.
