The .VCF extension is an attached business card, listing several pieces of
information about that person. They should be safe to open. I've not heard
of any problems using VCF files (yet). You can set one up yourself under
Outlook Express. Go to Tools, Options, Compose and look for "Business Card"
at the bottom of the windows.

Subject: [PCSOFT] .vcf extension

Hello Pcsoft,

I recently received an email which when opened in Outlook Express 5.0,
showed something which looked like a text-box icon in the header-portion of
the message. When I right-clicked this icon, the pop-up box showed only the
"Open" option as available (the Delete option was greyed-out) . When I chose
the Open option, I got a window showing me the filename as xyz.vcf and
prompting me to reconsider whether I wanted to open this attachment or save
it to disk. Could anyone please tell me what is the .vcf file-extension and
whether it can be considered safe ?

I use Win95 SR2, Internet Explorer 5.0, Outlook Express 5.0.

Thanks and Regards

Shaleen
