Hi Ron,

A simple solution to your problem may to use a tool called autopatcher. 
www.autopatcher.com ,.
This tools allows you to down load all of the patches currently avaliable 
for a given version of windwos ie xp sp2.and  then install the in one or two 
runs of the patching program..
see website for more info.
I deal for updating standalone pc or pc on slow internet connections.
