For the past week, almost immediately after starting my computer, a
black screen with white writing comes up. I have to push "any key" to
get rid of it. This is the message,
"Cannot find a device file that may be needed to run Windows or a
windows application.
The windows registry or systems ini file refers to this device
file, but the device file no longer exists.
If you deleted this file on purpose, try uninstalling the
associated application using its uninstall or setup program.
If you still want to use the application associated with this
devise file, try reinstalling that application to replace the missing
file.
dfs.vxd
Press a key to continue."
This is followed by blinking underscore line. I don't know what
application the message is talking about. Obviously I have deleted
something. Sure would appreciate help with this problem. If you can
help me, please answer in as simple language as possible. I am a
74-year old grandma who is teaching herself how to use a computer.
Thank you very much. Ann Parker
