If you enable Norton to scan email, it installs itself as a proxy and
modifies the network handlers so your email traffic runs through that proxy.
I recommend turning that off -- it can cause timing issues with some email
servers/services, and Norton's "auto-protect" will generally catch any
infected emails when they get written to the hard drive.
