PCSOFT Digest - 1 Oct 2004 to 2 Oct 2004 (#2004-276)Hello,
I have just started having problems with Microsoft Word. Anytime I try to open an attachment in my Outlook Express, I get one of two messages:
1) "There is not enough memory to run this program." It then asks me if I want to close the program.
2) "The system is dangerously low on resources. Program (then stated) not responding."
The whole computer just freezes up and I have to shut down and start all over. There is no way to open the Word document. This has happened with different Word document attachments. I have AVG virus protection, have run it, and it reports I am virus free.
The second message above really makes me wonder, especially since it happens just after I've started the computer. I have a Gateway 500, Microsoft Windows 98SE, 384RAM, running Internet Explorer, and have MS Word 2000.
This problem started recently after I defragmented, using the VoptXP free 30 day trial program. There isn't much else that is different.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Sharon Kiellach
