The answer is YES. I presume that you have the Win98SE CD, the manual that
comes with it and the CD or floppies that were used to install an earlier
version of Windows. Before you start, please, please read all the following
references!
If you do not have a Startup disk for Win98 that includes CD-ROM support,
go to page 78 of the Win98SE Getting Started manual and follow the
instruction to create a startup disk with CD-ROM support.
You can then format you HD to clean out all the "junk".
Then go to page 26 in the Getting Started manual and follow the
instructions under "Performing a New Installation".
I have done several installations this way and have never encountered a
problem.
