PCSofters,

Would this be an appropriate place to ask questions about Excel
macros, or should they be posted elsewhere?
Thanks,

James Donat

You too can learn ASCII art!

The following response was posted to PCSoft:

          *** Start of message ***
The welcome message you received when you joined this list explained
what the appropriate topics are. This list is for all types of
application software and the various flavors of Windows operating
systems.

The welcome message also told you that cutesy little drawings in
signature files are not permitted.

Did you read the welcome message?
          *** End of message ***

I read the welcome message a long time ago, but have forgotten a lot of what it said. Had I went back and reread it before posting my question, it would have answered it. However, I have hardly seen any posts on Excel, so that's why I posed the question. I suppose a better question to have asked is, "Is this a good list for Excel macro questions, or is there a better list?"

I also noticed these two items in the welcome message quoted below:

"* Never criticize or chastise another subscriber on PCSOFT. If you have
a problem contact either the person directly or a list owner."

"* Limit the size of your signature file. No one wants to read a few
lines of your wisdom only to discover you have added a page
of worthless verbiage to the end. Remember that many
ASCII/ANSI designs will not translate to other mail applications
       and look awful."

PCSofters, please send your criticisms privately to the individual instead of openly to the list as was done to me.

As far as signature files, mine is nowhere near a page long, and the welcome message does not explicitly forbid ASCII art, it only appears to discourage it. But since some find it offensive, I'll leave it off in the future.

James "Artless" Donat
