Hi Chuck
In Communicator, remove AIM from your Personal Bookmark folder.
Delete "launch.aim" from every user profile.
With Communicator closed, in your "...Communicator\Program\" folder,
delete the \aim\ subfolder and all it's contents and subfolders.
Run Regedit:
WARNING: Backup the Registry BEFORE Editing!!
Edit | Find -- type in "AIM" (no quotes). Remove all references.
(Be careful the letters AIM are not part of another larger word
in any of these references.)
Edit | Find -- type in "AOL" (no quotes). Remove all references.
If you are an AOL subscriber, delete ONLY the AIM references in
the registry.
Exit Regedit, Exit Windows,
Restart your computer.
This information is from http://www.ufaq.org/commonly/remove_aim.html
If you just want to keep AIM from ever starting, start REGEDIT from the
RUN Menu and work your way to the key
\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
and delete the reference to AIM in the right pane. Or go to your
Netscape Program folder and find AIM.EXE. Start it and select Setup.
Go to the Misc. tab and uncheck "Start Netscape AIM when
Windows starts".
Regards,
Bill
