Rob,
Have you looked for another attachment?
This may also be either a failed attempt to include a YouTube video or
your email client does not support or render FLV or SWF files.
Since you're using Outlook Express, you should be aware that M$ put those
files on the restricted list .Thanks to all the "security updates".
On the other hand it also depends on your settings.
Are you sure it was 2.83 MB and not 8.23 MB? > that's the size of the
video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHWFaikkIPY
And you're right.it isn't all that funny.
Your AV should pick up viruses and trojans if it's set to scan incoming
email. This is not specifically spelled out on the website, although
Webshield is indicated to do this for your browser.
Another way is to save the attachment and scan it (upload it)
to VirusTotal http://www.virustotal.com/
This will give you an "opinion" of about 30 different anti-malware (AV)
scanners.

Subject: [PCSOFT] Trojan in attachment?

I received on a jokelist an eml. attachment, Women's dictionary (not
very funny) but 2.83 MB - for only one page of html-looking text.
I opened it, but then started worrying about the size of the file -
possible trojan?
Google didn't give me anything useful. Is there any way of pre-checking
an attachment for trojans? I have AVAST protection, but does it check
for trojans?
If not, is there a way to check an attachment for trojans?
Thanks,
Rob
