If making another application the default player, logically, there may be a
robot program at work within your system. I use Winamp 2.91 exclusively and
have made it my default media player, and have unchecked everything in WMP
as I outlined in my response to your post. However, in addition, I also use
three other applications to deter activity such as you describe. Spybot
Search and Destroy, Java Cool Spyware Blaster, and Popup Stopper, all of
which are shareware, and all seem to work amazingly well on my system (XP
Home). They are all easily found in all search engines and the Spyware
Blaster program can be a bit tricky to install. There are additional files
that are available on their home page at the bottom of the mirror list that
I would recommend downloading BEFORE downloading the application program.
I know it sounds like an endorsement, but it isn't. Just trying to help
solve your popup problem.
Once again, god luck...
