Elizabeth,
There are several web sites that work like your telephone company 411 --
in fact, one site is www.four11.com. BUT they do not list the entire
internet community. A person would have to go to the site and request
that their address be listed. It is not automatic.
In the old days, we used the FINGER program to request that information
plus a whole lot more from the person's host system, but now days, most
servers will only send back a terse message stating that it is or is not
a valid address. Many servers just refuse the connection and don't give
out ANY information.
