Win95 4.00.950 B, MS Office97 SR-2,McAfee VirusScan 3.1.8,Toshiba 490XCDT

Seems I've picked up the W97M.Ethan virus from an Email Word attachment. My
version of McAfee detects it in the file C:\ethan.__ but wants to be
upgraded to be able to clean it. Both of the McAfee VirusScan Console
options to either Update/Upgrade fail and return errors. Does anyone know if
this virus interferes with this version of McAfee. What is the easiest way
to get rid of this virus. I've download a trial copy of a newer version of
McAfee but it wants to overwrite the installed version and I can't let it do
that. This is a company laptop and I don't have the setup disks/CD.

All help is sincerely appreciated.
